When the world is in the grip of the non-righteous, and the righteous has no support from any direction, Lord either directly descends or sends his most intimate associates for the rescue. It was a time when the teachings of vedas were either misunderstood or rejected and the whole world went into chaos. The followers of true Vedic doctrine (sri vaishnavam) became a minority. The knowledge of parama purushartham was not reachable to the majority. Even the elite members of the society are cheated with material-contaminated knowledge.

Then the world saw the dawn of a new Sun who would cut through the ignorance of the world with the blade called the Thirumanthram, the essence of entire Vedic literature. In 1017 AD, the same adisesha who took the incarnation of Lakshmana in Threthayugam, Lord Balarama in Dwaparayugam took Swami Ramanuja Avatharam through the sacred couple of Sriman Asuri Kesavachari and Srimathi Kanthimathi.

Swami debated with all the intelligent men of the era and convinced them the true meaning of Vedas, the eternal Truth. This he achieved by grasping the teachings of Swami Yaamunacharya who is an acharya in the unbroken disciplic lineage of Sri Vaishnava Sampradayam.

Based on the teachings of the earlier preceptors, Swami established to the world that the entire universe along with all living beings is nothing but the body of the Supreme Lord Srimannarayana. He taught both the moksha margam(means to get liberated from repeated birth death cycle) as well as the result of moksham is Srimannarayana alone.

Even at the risk of himself attaining hell, Swami took compassion on the suffering beings of the world and taught the ashtakshari manthram (hailed as the king of all manthrams, the ultimate essense of vedas) to all that have sought it without checking any other qualification. It was a time when the world is unfair to downtrodden hard working people. Swami took compassion on all people irrespective of their caste, creed, social status and sex, and taught Ashtakshari manthram that can liberate people from samsara.

For the benefit of the world, Swami documented all the science of absolute truth in nine gem like scriptures.

2. Sri Bhashyam
3. Geetha Bhashyam
4. Vedantha Deepa
5. Vedantha Sara
6. Saranagathi Gadyam
7. Sriranga Gadyam
8. Srivaikunta Gadyam
9. Nithya grantham

Swami exposed the hollowness in all the contrary religions and has established Sri Vaishnava Sampradayam unequivocally with the light of Vedas through the above works. Swami is hailed as Krupa mathra Prasanna Acharya, because of His unbounded unconditional grace. Because He has given us our Lord agaisnt all odds, Swami has done us more favour than the Lord Himself, and hence is gladly called as Emperumanar (one who is greater than Emperuman, the Supreme Lord Srimannarayana).

When Swami did saranagathi to Namperumal on Panguni Uththara kalyanam day, Namperumal granted both worlds (Leela, Nithya Vibhuthis) to Emberumanar. Hence he is also known as Udayavar. All the Sri Vaishnavas after ramanuja gladly submit themselves as Ramanuja dasas, and seek Lord only through Swami Ramanuja.
